SCIENCE OF LEAP YEAR
2024 is a Leap Year, giving February 29 days instead of 28 days. Common years have 365 days but this is a rounded number—it actually takes the Earth 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 56 seconds to orbit the Sun. Without Leap Year, those extra hours each year would shift the seasons, and according to the Smithsonian, would push Summer into December within 700 years.

This exhibit explores many of the artifacts found within King Tut’s Tomb, including the king’s sarcophagus, as well as the moment Howard Carter, famed archeologist, found the long-lost site more than 100 years ago.
