No one likes being picked on … unless the person doing it happens to be extremely funny. When the man himself hosts at Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club, you’ll find yourself wanting to see what smart remarks he has for you as he warms up the crowd before the show. Nobody is safe and nothing is off limits for the Everybody Loves Raymond star.
The venue itself has been bringing top-tier comedy to MGM Grand since it opened in 2012, but with its relocation from the basement to the District, the space became an intimate, stylish room with warm lighting and a signature black velvet curtain, conjuring vibes similar to a 1920s lounge. As a bonus, just outside the doors to the main room is a quaint bar that features live jazz performances multiple nights a week; it’s a perfect setting to imbibe in if you’re not ready to wrap up your evening after the curtain closes.
Garrett hosts this Jan. 12-13, with the hilarious Percy Crews 2 and Drew Dunn joining him. Any show at this spot guarantees top-notch comedy, but if you can drop in when the legend himself is in the room, you’re in for a treat. He’s a master at what he does and will have the crowd rolling mere moments after taking the stage.
Crews, who also performs alongside Adam Mamawala and Rob Sherwood Jan. 8-10, and Mamawala and Dunn on Jan. 11 and 14, has been a stand-up comic for more than 30 years and is known for his relatable, yet sharp, quips. Known as a comedian and podcaster, Mamawala has been featured on Comedy Central, MTV and BET, among other outlets.
Regardless of who’s taking the stage when you decide to stop into Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club, you can count on having a fantastically funny experience.
