The weather’s beautiful in Las Vegas this time of year, so hop off that slot machine, steal away from shopping and put down that second cocktail—just for a spell, mind you—and check out some great outdoor activities for the day!
ALL ABOARD!
The spooky season is in full swing, so get in the holiday spirit by heading out to Boulder City and booking a ride on the Boulder City Halloween Express. Enjoy a 30-minute train ride with fun activities aboard. After disembarking, head to the Monster Mash dance party with refreshments, games and even a costume contest. Rides this week run Oct. 25-26 at 6 p.m.

VROOM, VROOM!
Put some pedal to metal out in the desert or around a racetrack by checking out SunBuggy Fun Rentals and Vegas Superkarts. SunBuggy says to bring the group or even the whole family (read: kids!) for some dune buggy experiences. Head out to the desert at top spots like Valley of Fire and Vegas Dunes and strap into a one-, two- or even four-seat dune buggy for some off-roading adventures. A real cool experience is the tour company’s Vegas Mini Baja Night Chase—when the sun goes down, let the glow of the city light up your off-roading adventure as you race your friends in the dark in a dune buggy. If racing your friends is an adventure that you’re really after, travel about 20 minutes from the Strip to Vegas Superkarts—an outdoor go-kart racing attraction. Superkarts offer a 4-stroke gas engine, resulting in a much faster, more powerful vehicle than the average go-kart. Your group will race around a 1,600-foot-long racetrack with 10 turns, hairpin corners and straightaways. Time to earn serious bragging rights!

WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE
What if I told you there was a lake in Las Vegas—just a short drive from the Strip? Yup, even in the middle of the desert you can enjoy some water time at the man-made Lake Las Vegas and a host of activities through Lake Las Vegas Water Sports. This company has tons of rental options. Paddleboarding is all the rage, and you can rent one with one- to two-hour options. If sitting and paddling is more your thing, rent a kayak, single or tandem-style. LLVWS also offers group fun in the form of electric boat rentals or swimmable pontoon boat rentals. For you daredevils, shred the lake with an electric surfboard experience.

A WONDER OF THE WORLD
If you’re going to head outdoors in the Southwest, you’ve gotta check out the Grand Canyon. But the behemoth natural wonder stretches far and wide, so book your adventure with Grand Canyon West. The company offers tickets to a variety of West Rim Grand Canyon excitement. Test your nerves as you walk across the glass-bottom Skywalk—a horseshoe-shaped cantilever bridge suspended 4,000 feet from the canyon floor. Grand Canyon West also offers highlights like river rafting down the Colorado River, 3,200 feet of ziplining (reaching speeds of 45 mph!), hiking and biking trails and immersive exploration of tribal lands at Hualapai Point and helicopter and pontoon tours.
