Few cities celebrate Mexican Independence Day better than Las Vegas, which has an incredible array of acts surrounding the Sept. 16 holiday.

MGM Grand Garden Arena will be busy with both music and comedy. Alejandro Fernández (Sept. 14-15) has sold more than 20 million records with his forays into all aspects of his culture—folk, mariachi, ranchera, charro and more. His bona fides include two Latin Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Franco Escamilla, meanwhile, brings the laughs on Sept. 13. The comedian and founder of La Diablo Squad has performed throughout the Mexican Republic and Carnegie Hall in 2020 (making him the first Latin comedian to do so).

T-Mobile Arena will be rocking for days with the arrivals of two distinct-sounding bands. San Bernardino-based Fuerza Regida (Sept. 15), composed of Jesús Ortiz Paz, Samuel Jaimez, Khrystian Ramos, Jose “Pelon” Garcia and Moises Lopez, has enjoyed much success since forming in 2015, making a splash in 2023 with single “Bebe Dame” with Grupo Frontera. They’ve also recorded successful singles with Natanael Cano, Peso Pluma, Calle 24 and Marshmello. Speaking of Peso Pluma, he performs Sept. 12. And while he’s only 25, the Mexican singer brings an impressive song lineup, including “Siempre Pendientes,” a controversial duet with Luis R. Conriquez that made the Billboard Global 200.

Over at Dolby Live at Park MGM, Mexican sensation Los Bukis (Sept. 13-14) prepares to play the final dates of a historic residency—the first Spanish-language residency on the Las Vegas Strip. Emotions are expected to run high as the legendary group performs classics like “Tu Carcel,” “Cómo Fui a Enamorarme de Ti,” “Y Ahora Te Vas” and “Quiéreme.”

PH Live at Planet Hollywood is sure to be packed for the return of Gloria Trevi (Sept. 13), often referred to as the Madonna of the Mexican pop scene. Expect all the danceable hits, from “Satisfecha” and “El Último Beso” to “Dr. Psiquiatra.”

The Venetian sees the arrival of iconic Spanish pop singer Emmanuel (Sept. 14-15), who’s been performing for nearly five decades, sure to get the goosebumps going with hits like “El Día Que Puedas,” “Con Olor a Hierba” and “Este Terco Corazón.” And fans of nostalgia will definitely want to check out Matute (Sept. 13), which has performed than 1,000 concerts throughout its career, specializing in the hits of the 1980s with a distinct sound. (They recently achieved Gold Record Certification for En Vivo Desde la Arena Ciudad de Mexico.)

Resorts World Las Vegas hosts the combination of two of Mexico’s most-beloved performers, taking the stage together as part of the Hasta Que Se Nos Hizo Tour: Lucero & Mijares (Sept. 13), who perform fan favorites like “Veleta,” “Electricidad,” “Ven a Cantar” and “El Privilegio de Amar.”

Mandalay Bay has a packed schedule, highlighted by Carin León (Sept. 14) of Grupo Arranke, who went solo in 2018 and saw his career get a significant boost after a video of him performing “A Través del Vaso” at a local festival in Hermosillo in 2018 went viral. Mexican pop band Matisse (Sept. 14) has been producing enjoyable music since 2014, from “La Misma Luna” and “Todavia” to “Primer Avión,” which featured Colombian singer Camilo. Mazatlan-based Banda MS (Sept. 13), performing since 2004, have reached No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Albums chart (with album Qué Bendición). And Moenia (Sept. 8) is sure to get people dancing with its electronic/synthpop/ambient music.

The Pearl at Palms promises an unforgettable evening with Ana Bárbara (Sept. 14), who’s been a powerful force in regional Mexican music since her debut in 1994. Her voice, combined with her stage presence, has made her one of the few Mexican acts to have an international following, selling more than 6 million records in the process on the strength of songs like “Nada” and “Sacudeme.”

Over at Westgate Las Vegas, let the laughs fly with Cristela Alonzo (Sept. 15), star of the ABC sitcom Cristela that aired in 2014-’15 (she created and starred in it, making her the first Mexican-American woman to do so in the U.S.). She’s also published a memoir, starred in a Netflix special and done voice-over work in movies.
