How deep Post Malone will dig into his 18-track country album F-1 Trillion for Post Malone Presents: The BIG ASS Stadium Tour was previewed at this year’s Coachella festival, where he headlined a Sunday bill featuring Megan Thee Stallion, Zedd and Kraftwerk. Like that lineup, the Posty one’s live shows have increasingly spanned genres during his decade-plus career, but with 15 of F-1 Trillion’s songs featuring all-star guests, there are challenges translating them for the stage.
Hits such as “Pour Me A Drink” and “I Had Some Help” debuted live in June and September of last year, respectively, with Blake Shelton joining the singer on the former on several occasions. Whether Morgan Wallen makes appearances on The BIG ASS Stadium Tour to assist with the latter remains to be seen, but Malone has managed F-1’s “M-E-X-I-C-O” without Billy Strings and was joined by Jelly Roll for that album’s “Losers” during a New Orleans concert two days before Super Bowl LIX.
He led off the Super Bowl LIX YouTube Tailgate Concert with “Wrong Ones,” the album-opening cut featuring Tim McGraw that Malone led off shows with during his fall tour. That song, minus McGraw, will likely continue to be the set opener on the stadium tour, but Malone will have a pair of F-1 collaborators on the road with him in the forms of support acts Jelly Roll and Sierra Ferrell.
Ferrell and Malone wrap their voices together on “Never Love You Again,” a waltz-time tune sweetened with fiddle and steel guitar. Malone has worked with veteran country musicians to render F-1 material live while longer shows last autumn provided opportunities to introduce new material such as “California Sober,” “Finer Things” and “What Don’t Belong to Me” alongside signature songs “White Iverson” and “Circles.”
Malone has an extensive catalog now. F-1 forms a trifecta of chart-topping albums along with critically acclaimed Hollywood’s Bleeding (2019) and Beerbongs & Bentleys (2018). That’s a lot of lyrics to remember after a inestimable amount of Bud Light consumed during his 30 years of existence, but Malone’s resilience is as reliable as his effervescence is contagious. Those two ingredients are as crucial to his success as his facial tattoos are to making him instantly recognizable.
Body art along with live music, food and beer are ingredients that will help determine the success of his free pre-concert Travelin’ Tailgate at the venue, although the chance to win a 2025 Harley-Davidson may be the pièce de résistance for more than a few fans.
As for the upcoming concerts themselves, Malone can be counted on to top any previous spectacle he’s taken on the road and to have used his 2024 shows as test runs for what was to come this year. As entertainment the current tour’s value is guaranteed. As a cultural event it’s a landmark of live hip-hop and country blended together and delivered by one artist during marathon performances that will be celebrated by audiences and examined under a microscope by influencers. Malone will be smiling all the way.
