If the phrase “Racers, start your engines, and may the best drag queen win!” makes you excited, then you’ve got to head slightly off-Strip to Gipsy for Drag Royale, a drag competition series that’s bringing all your favorite challenges from the Emmy-winning TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race to life in an upbeat, buzzing bar setting. Not to mention, the competition is judged by Ru-Girls such as Shanel, Alexis Matteo and Jaymes Mansfield and hosted by RPDR fan favorite and local scene gem Mirage, pictured.
Each week, local performers compete to become the Drag Royale champion, and this Thursday is the series finale, so you’ll see a mini-reunion with all the eliminated competitors. The final four contestants will slay individual performances and a final runway (and these queens have been turning looks, honey!). And of course, it wouldn’t be an ode to Drag Race without a lip sync smackdown, so expect to leave thoroughly entertained.
The show starts at 10 p.m., which means not only can you have a nice dinner beforehand, but you’ll be out in time to catch the 1:30 a.m. show across the street at Gipsy’s sister property, Piranha Nightclub. Another huge bonus here: The drinks are cheap and the pours are heavy, plus you’re only about 5 minutes from the Strip, so an Uber back to your hotel shouldn’t break the bank either.
