Nothing fills the cold winter months with warm merriment quite like song and dance. There’s something magical about each seasonal spectacle that pops up, and Leona Lewis’ A Starry Night at Voltaire inside The Venetian Resort is no exception. This residency masterfully combines stunning visuals, jazz and Motown influences, and personal touches to create a Christmas crowd-pleaser like none other.

The show opens with an adorable phone call from Coco, Lewis’ daughter, which really sets the show’s upbeat yet sentimental tone. Then Lewis uses her stunning voice to perform holiday classics like “Winter Wonderland” and “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town.” Not only is the U.K. songstress a fabulous vocalist, but for this show she’s accompanied by a talented jazz band and backup singers.

Something that becomes apparent in the first few acts of the show is just how beautiful the stage design is and how it complements the show itself. Lewis has gone vintage here with a velvety, ruched backdrop and some umbrella lights to diffuse a warm glow. It looks like something straight out of the Rat Pack era of Vegas, but with a bit of extra sparkle.

And the wardrobe! It’s only natural that an artist playing a venue with a center runway would have some breathtaking attire (and Lewis absolutely does), but what truly pulls the show together is the formal wear every musician on the stage dons. Dressed in black and white with details like bow ties and opera gloves, Lewis’ supporting crew makes the show feel so much more glamorous simply by being dressed for the occasion.

Of course, the star of the show has her own breathtaking fashion moments, including some fantastically voluminous opera gloves and a shimmering gown that cascades down from the hanging moon prop from which Lewis sings “Fly Me to the Moon.”

Soft serenades are just a fraction of the excitement this show has to offer. Upbeat hits like “Mr Right” and “One More Sleep” infuse energy into this winter wonderland, and a phenomenal performance of chart-topping hit “Bleeding Love” will leave any die-hard Lewis fans speechless.

Not to mention, Voltaire is an incredibly intimate venue, leaving a lot of opportunity for crowd interaction, and Lewis absolutely takes advantage of that. Not only does she acknowledge fans from the stage, she moves through the room multiple times, essentially ensuring she’s within reach of every single audience member. She stops on occasion to sign an autograph or hold a young fan’s hand for a few verses. There’s even a moment where a lucky couple is invited to join the star onstage for a song, and a talented audience member is welcomed to sing or dance along as well.

Lewis’ A Starry Night is not only a quintessential Christmas show, it’s an uplifting, heartwarming spectacle that hits all the holiday feels. The singer pauses to tell the audience about how this time of year is the time to spread love and joy.

She is doing just that.
