The 1990s were a great decade for country music. George Strait released four straight chart-topping albums, the legacy of Keith Whitley, who passed in 1989, thrived with posthumous releases that produced No. 1 hits, and Randy Travis enjoyed possibly the most fruitful period of his career. (He was so big that he was the first country artist to play the MGM Grand when it opened in 1993!) All three artists had a profound effect on country artist Zach Top, who paid tribute to their influence in his debut single, “Sounds Like the Radio,” in 2024.

That single alone has catapulted Top to the, well, top in a very short time. (Fifty-five radio stations added it to their rotation upon impact, making it the most-added song at the format.) Debut album Cold Beer & Country Music followed a few months later, and Top just released his second album, Ain’t in It for My Health.

One thing is for sure: If you were a fan of ’90s country music, this is the concert for you. Expect to feel the same vibes you felt upon hearing Strait’s “One Night at a Time,” Whitley’s “I’m Over You” and Travis’ “Whisper My Name.” Top wouldn’t have it any other way.

MGM Grand, 8 p.m. Dec. 12, starting at $76 plus tax and fee. mgmgrand.mgmresorts.com
