The holidays have a way of bringing out our sentimental side, and for Leona Lewis, that tenderness is woven into every detail of A Starry Night.

The British pop icon’s residency at Voltaire in The Venetian Resort is the perfect showcase for the voice that won The X Factor nearly 20 years ago. In her first-ever full U.S. concert series, Lewis transforms the showroom into something wonderfully, surprisingly intimate.

“I have a little girl, so I wanted to create something that everyone could come and see and watch and feel,” Lewis tells Las Vegas Magazine.

The show arrives during an important moment for the singer. Fresh off receiving her OBE for services to music and charity, and with new music percolating in the studio, Lewis is entering a new creative chapter. A Starry Night is her opening statement. What makes the show special is how Lewis has reimagined what a Vegas residency can be—the jazz-inflected brass section, the intimate venue, the emphasis on an up-close experience.

“It’s gonna feel like good vibes, good energy,” she says, describing what is proving to be a master class in vocal control wrapped in holiday cheer.

Running through Jan. 3, the residency offers fans a chance to experience Lewis’ artistry in full force. A Starry Night strikes the delicate balance between superstar and storyteller, between performance and connection.
