There aren’t many more family-friendly shows in Las Vegas than The Magic of Jen Kramer. Eschewing the larger-than-life productions of contemporaries like David Copperfield and Criss Angel, this ultra-personable performer fills her show with simple but unbelievable illusions, most of them involving audience members whose amazed faces are practically worth the price of admission.

She’s staking a claim to being one of the city’s premier magicians over the last six years, eclipsing the 500-performance mark a few years ago and this year announcing the extension of her successful Westgate Las Vegas production. She has also appeared on everything from Penn & Teller: Fool Us and Masters of Illusion to NBC’s Today, and when she’s not performing in town she’s spreading the joy of magic to other countries, as illustrated in a touching video she shares with all of her audiences.

Her show itself is an ever-evolving carousel of some of Kramer’s greatest hits, including:

• Two wine glasses, two sets of cards and a “magic scarf” (cue the “oohs” and “aahs” Kramer has the audience say as she displays it) that helps create an instantaneous transformation;

• Four different, distinct-tasting drinks, a blindfold, a lemon slice and an audience volunteer’s taste buds;

• Three beach balls, a fake Facebook profile and a box that hangs from the ceiling. (For those who think magicians use plants, heads up: Yours truly got picked for this, and speaking as a non-plant, I was completely floored by the result.)
