Before Maverick Helicopters was established three decades ago the idea of including the Grand Canyon in a trip to Las Vegas was unfathomable. It really needed to be one or the other, but now Maverick Helicopters offers tours to the canyon that take less than half a day. It’s a 40-minute picturesque ride to a landing zone right above the Colorado River, highlighted by a champagne toast.

Credit Maverick for hiring practices that have created a crack team of pilots who are knowledgeable about the area and inspire confidence in passengers. Maverick provides the fastest way to get to Las Vegas Speedway during Electric Daisy Carnival, a Red Rock Canyon landing site with majestic views of the valley, and cruising along the Strip and downtown Las Vegas at high altitudes.

It’s those Grand Canyon tours that keep drawing more visitors every year, though. Visitors can devote half the morning or a half-day to hitting the natural wonder, ticking off a bucket list item while earning bragging rights to having descended a mile into the canyon without a pack mule. Maverick’s 10-to-12-minute night flights around the Strip are less of a commitment, but provide a helicopter’s-eye view of the Strip that is both highly Instagrammable and a great way to start out a Las Vegas evening.
