Few cities celebrate Mexican Independence Day better than Las Vegas, which has an incredible array of acts surrounding the Sept. 16 holiday.

Ricky Martin

Caesars Palace, 8 p.m. Sept. 12-13, starting at $104.94 plus tax and fee. caesars.com

What more is there to say about this sensational entertainer? Only that if you don’t know who he is, look around to make sure you aren’t living in a cave! To say the former Menudo member made the most out of his solo career opportunity is the understatement of the century. For 1999’s “Livin’ la Vida Loca” alone (which topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles charts), Martin could rest on his laurels. But, as he would go on to prove, that was just setting the table for an unprecedented career.

In addition to selling more than 70 million records worldwide and winning countless Grammys and Latin Grammys in the process, Martin has also become an acting force, garnering an Emmy nomination for his role in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story in 2018. He’s also appeared on Broadway and founded The Ricky Martin Foundation in 2004 to combat human trafficking. But c’mon: Did you really need me to tell you all this?

Teo González & Mario Aguilar

The Venetian Resort, 9 p.m. Sept. 13, starting at $45 plus tax and fee. venetianlasvegas.com

What makes this teaming so compelling from a comedy standpoint is the generational gap between the stars. Teo González, who’s been at his stand-up comedy craft for decades in comedy clubs, is sharing the stage with Mario Aguilar, who’s known more for his viral content. It’s sure to be a big part of what will make this one of the most memorable comedy performances of the week. Young or old, this is going to make you laugh. A lot.

Los Tucanes de Tijuana

Palms, 8 p.m. Sept. 13, starting at $59.50 plus tax and fee. palms.com

For more than 30 years, this norteño band (translated as “The Toucans of Tijuana”) has been influencing other artists in Mexico’s Pacific states. Their melodious sound is instantly infectious, and has led to numerous awards, both in music and in film. The proof of their wide-ranging appeal? In 2019, they became the first regional Mexican music group to perform at Coachella!

They are incredibly prolific, releasing 30 albums over the last 31 years and winning a 2012 Latin Grammy for album 365 Dias. They are also the first norteño band to win an international film award: The Un Certain Regard Angel Film Award at the Monaco International Film Festival for their participation in the documentary Los ilegales.

And they have a Las Vegas connection, receiving a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame in 2008!

Caifanes

Palms, 8 p.m. Sept. 10, starting at $67 plus tax and fee. palms.com

Few Mexican bands have the sound of Caifanes, a quartet whose rock music sound has been likened to The Cure, The Beatles and King Crimson. When they burst on the scene in the ’80s, they even looked the part, dressing in black with makeup and disheveled hair.

Their crossover success to America was complete when, in 1992, the group sold out the Hollywood Palladium with a strong lineup of songs like “No Dejes Que (Don’t Let It),” “Estas Dormida (You’re Sleeping),” Debajo de Tu Piel (“Under Your Skin)” and “Nubes (Clouds).” They would later open for The Rolling Stones in Mexico City in 1994, as well as participating in Peter Gabriel’s WOMAD Festival.

Even though Caifanes has not released a new studio album since El Nervio Del Volcan in 1994, their influence remains strong, and they continue a rigorous touring schedule.

Banda MS

Mandalay Bay, 8 p.m. Sept. 12, starting at $69 plus tax and fee. mandalaybay.mgmresorts.com

This group from Mazatlan, Sinaloa (hence the “MS” in its name), specializes in the banda style of regional Mexican music, emphasizing wind, brass and percussion. They’ve released 20 albums since forming in 2003, and Qué Bendición reached No. 1 on the Billboard Latin albums chart, while the lovely “Solo Con Verte” achieved a remarkable 12 weeks on the Monitor Latino singles chart.

The group has also collected a substantial number of awards during their existence, including multiple Billboard Latin Music Awards: 2015 Regional Song of the Year and Hot Latin Song, both for “Hermosa Experincia”; 2016 Hot Latin Song and Regional Mexican Song, both for “Mi Razon De Ser”; and 2017 Regional Mexican Album of the Year for Qué Bendición, as well as Regional Mexican Song of the Year for “Solo Con Verte.”

Palomazo Norteño

MGM Grand, 8 p.m. Sept. 14, starting at $69 plus tax and fee. mgmgrand.mgmresorts.com

This is sure to be one of the highlights of the week. Palamozo Norteño is a “dream team” of four of Mexico’s most legendary norteño artists—Lalo Mora, Eliseo Robles, Rosendo Cantu and Raul Hernandez. Their Las Vegas performance is part of their 2025 La Borrachera Perfecta Tour, and their combination of contemporary and traditional music is sure to pack the house.

Carín León

MGM Grand, 8 p.m. Sept. 12, starting at $59.50 plus tax and fee. mgmgrand.mgmresorts.com

Few regional Mexican music figures have enjoyed the meteoric rise that Carín León did after launching his solo career in 2018. (He had previously been a member of Grupo Arranke.) His distinct voice is the perfect complement for his melodies combining banda, mariachi, grupero and even country, soul and pop.

His crossover appeal in America was apparent when he appeared on NPR’s Tiny Desk in 2022. (He would return to the show earlier this year, and seems destined to be a regular guest.)

His accolades include a Latin Grammy for Best Norteño Album for 2023 opus Colmillo de Leche, as well as a win in Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album for 2024’s Boca Chueca, Vol. 1.

Reik

Palms, 8 p.m. Sept. 14, starting at $60 plus tax and fee. palms.com

Easily one of the most successful Mexican pop rock bands of the last 20 years, Reik has enjoyed enormous crossover success, winning awards and selling tons of copies in the process.

Most of Reik’s seven studio albums have either gone gold or platinum—or both. It won a Latin Billboard Music Award for Latin Pop Song of the Year with “Me Niego,” as well as a Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Album by a Duo or Group with Vocals for 2009’s Un Dia Mas. The band has collaborated with artists like Diane Warren, Ricky Martin and J Balvin, and it looks like Reik is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down.

Alfred Robles

The Venetian Resort, 9 p.m. Sept. 12, starting at $39 plus tax and fee. venetianlasvegas.com

Few current stand-up comedians take the approach that Alfred Robles does. To classify his act as “comedy” just doesn’t do it justice; he’s more of an equal-opportunity self-help guru to his audiences—in the most hilarious way possible. He’ll routinely bring audience members up to discuss topics that most wouldn’t consider ideal topics for a night of comedy (divorce, prison, drug use, etc.). And yes, he will make anything funny while getting the whole audience involved in the discussion.

Robles has been hard at work refining his comedy chops with everything from the #FluffyBreaksEven World Tour, Staaand Upp on Starz, and Stand Up and Deliver on NUVOtv. He’s a favorite of comedian like Gabriel Iglesias, and as soon as you catch a glimpse of his unique style, he’ll be one of your favorites too.

Matute

The Venetian Resort, 8:30 p.m. Sept. 12-13, starting at $65 plus tax and fee. venetianlasvegas.com

Fans of nostalgia will definitely want to check out Matute, which has performed than 1,000 concerts throughout its career, specializing in the hits of the 1980s with a distinct sound. (It recently achieved Gold Record Certification for En Vivo Desde la Arena Ciudad de Mexico.)

This week’s show is part of the group’s Stereo Disco Tour, and the name says it all: You’re going to get a serious dose of retro goodness at this show, delivered in a high-powered style. Sing-alongs? Practically mandatory!

Grupo Duelo

Planet Hollywood, 8 p.m. Sept. 12, starting at $230 plus tax and fee. caesars.com

Often just called Duelo, this seven-member Mexican norteño band from Roma, Texas, is one of the most prolific of the last 20-plus years, producing no fewer than 20 albums during that time span (under the group names Duelo Norteño and Duelo). And in every effort, the band’s delightful sound never ceases to bring in new fans; in 2009, the group’s Solamento Tu debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Top Latin Albums and Regional Mexican Albums charts.

Marco Antonio Solis

Caesars Palace, 8 p.m. Sept. 14-15, starting at $111 plus tax and fee. caesars.com

As popular as Marco Antonio Solis was with the hugely successful group Los Bukis (which he co-founded in 1975), his solo career has eclipsed that and then some. His output since going solo in 1996 has been steady and very fruitful; he has more than 30 songs on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks chart.

He’s also enjoyed success in the United States, receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010. Solis has won five Latin Grammy Awards and two Lo Nuestro Awards and been inducted into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame and was recognized as Person of the Year by the Latin Recording Academy. Fans can expect plenty of favorites, including “Se Veia Venir,” “Una Mujer Como Tu,” “Que Pena Me Das” and “Recuerdos, Tristeza, y Soledad.”

Chelo

Planet Hollywood, 8 p.m. Sept. 13, starting at $89 plus tax and fee. caesars.com

Few Mexican artists have the reputation of Chelo, often in the discussion for the best singer that country has ever produced. Still going strong at 81, she has a range that few artists of her caliber can ever come close to achieving; in one year, she recorded five genres—tropical, norteño, ranchero, boleros and cumbias!

Chelo began her career as a vocalist of cumbia group Chelo y su Conjunto before launching a career in the ranchera genre, producing classics like “Mejor Me Voy,” “Que Sacrificio,” “Si Ya Te Vas” and “Ya Me Voy” in the process. She also acted in 13 movies, often with her daughter, Yesenia Flores.
