If we told you Mötley Crüe recently released a track featuring Dolly Parton, would you believe us? It seems unlikely, but the glam metal rockers totally teamed up with the country music gem to release a version of “Home Sweet Home,” in which Parton lends her vocals to the sentimental power ballad.
While it seems like an odd collaboration, it really works! Parton’s bright soprano tone perfectly cuts through Mick Mars’ electric riffs and complements Vince Neil’s raspy vocals. Even better, a portion of the proceeds from the revamped 1985 hit will benefit Covenant House, an organization that battles youth homelessness. The Covenant House is clearly near and dear to the band’s heart; it also recently held an auction of stage-played instruments in an effort to raise $250,000 for the organization.
You won’t see Mars take the stage with the band in Vegas (he was replaced by John 5 in 2023 after a bit of controversy), but you probably will hear “Home Sweet Home” along with many other favorites from the band’s catalog. After all, fans might riot if the band took the stage and skipped “Kickstart My Heart” and “Girls, Girls, Girls.”
Naturally, the music industry’s most infamous bad boys come with plenty of exciting onstage antics, so concertgoers can certainly expect to see a show like no other. Perhaps Nikki Sixx will pull out his iconic flame thrower bass, or Tommy Lee will once again speed around on his 360-degree drum roller coaster. Maybe the band has concocted a totally new set of surprises for this limited-run residency. Only time will tell, but with a stage as beautiful and adaptable as the one Dolby Live provides, the options are limitless.
It’s certainly safe to say that this will be an explosive, high-energy spectacle. How could it not be, coming from the group that put out hits like “Wild Side,” “Live Wire,” and “Looks That Kill?” Not to mention, the Crüe’s fans tend to be a rowdy bunch in the best way possible. Anyone familiar with the band’s live performances through the ’80s can recall riotous moments where fans couldn’t be quelled by security and occasionally found their way onto the stage. We wouldn’t recommend trying that here; Vegas has some strict rules, but the energy in the room will be palpable.
Dolby Live at Park MGM is the perfect venue to make a total night out of seeing a show. Stop into Eataly Las Vegas to taste around various vendors serving pizza, pastas, salads and more, then sip a preshow drink at Juniper Cocktail Lounge. After the show, head to On The Record to dance the night away. Hidden behind a record store facade, this club has Industry Wednesday popping off after the Sept. 24 show, Shadow Red and Jkrazy playing Sept. 26 and CLA and Shalvoy on Sept. 27.
Pro tip: If you hang out outside of Dolby Live for just a moment, a club promoter will likely hand you free entrance to OTR.
Park MGM, 8 p.m. Sept. 24, 26-27 and Oct. 1-3. starting at $51.82 plus tax and fee. parkmgm.mgmresorts.com
