Las Vegas owes a tremendous debt to Donny Osmond. He’s been part of this city’s entertainment fabric for more than 15 years, both with his equally famous sibling Marie at Flamingo and now with his solo residency (which Osmond just added new dates for, effectively extending it until the end of the year). He packs the house every single night, and it’s not unusual to scan a typical crowd and see all age groups represented. That’s because Osmond’s career spans generations, from his early days with The Osmonds and his TV show with Marie to the later years on Broadway and the not-so-long-ago stint on The Masked Singer.

Osmond brings more than 60 years in show business to life in his production, both through music and dancing to audience interaction and state-of-the-art technology. It’s more than a little mind-blowing to see Osmond converse with the young version of himself that set the world on fire with hits like “Puppy Love.” But that’s just the beginning of the fun Osmond has in store.

Yes, you will hear “Puppy Love” for sure. (I’m pretty sure a riot would ensue if that wasn’t part of the proceedings.) But you’ll also hear “Soldier of Love” and a number complete with costumes and choreography. Speaking of which, Osmond proves to be a dancer of many talents. You’ll quick realize why he won his season of Dancing With the Stars as he displays moves that would be impressive for a dancer half his age.

And he raps! Yes, you read that correctly. His “auto-rap-ography,” a nearly 10-minute number in which he blazingly rips through his entire history, is simply mesmerizing.

And to ensure every show is different, Osmond displays his 60-plus albums on a big screen and has the audience pick a song for him to perform. Trust us: This is not scripted. Don’t be surprised if he doesn’t remember all the lyrics! The spontaneity of this segment is nostalgic, hilarious and exhilarating all at the same time.

Osmond has absolutely lived a life in full, and sharing it with Las Vegas audiences continues to be a special gift.
