Although Lunar New Year in the Year of the Horse starts Feb. 17 this year, find activities throughout February to enjoy, like lion and dragon dances and special dining menus.

One of the most exciting aspects of Lunar New Year are the lion and dragon dances, and there are several this week in Vegas to choose from, along with Lunar New Year festivals.

At Aria on Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the main valet, Yau Kung Moon performs a dragon and lion dance in the southern Shaolin Kung Fu system. And on Feb. 21, Resorts World Las Vegas holds a lion and dragon dance and parade, high pole performance, lettuce blessing and firecracker finale and more starting at 4 p.m.

On Feb. 22, FSLV—Fashion Show Las Vegas hosts a Lunar New Year afternoon festival from noon-5 p.m. with a lion dance procession, fan dances, a contortionist, lantern-making station, martial arts demonstrations and more. In the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort, a lion blessing on Feb. 19 kicks off at 3 p.m. in St. Mark’s Square and will wend its way through the center. From Feb. 20-22, St. Mark’s Square hosts cultural performances celebrating Lunar New Year traditions.

Find special menus at Jasmine, Noodles and The Garden Table at Bellagio in Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens (which is decked out in a Lunar New Year theme); Blossom at Aria; The Noodle Shop at Mandalay Bay; Joël Robuchon, Morimoto Las Vegas and Grand Wok Noodle Bar at MGM Grand; and La La Noodle at Park MGM (dates and times vary). Genting Palace at Resorts World Las Vegas offers a Lunar New Year dinner menu through Feb. 22, and an extensive Lunar New Year buffet from Feb. 20-22. Mott 32 at The Venetian Resort also offers a special Chinese New Year menu Feb. 17-March 3, as well as DJs and live performers, Feb. 17-18.
