In case you were wondering if the upcoming welterweight title bout between Ryan Garcia and Mario Barrios was going to have plenty of drama and excitement, consider that the fight is being titled “The Ring: High Stakes.” It will be broadcast on DAZN, but seriously, if you’re in Las Vegas this week, this is one you will probably want to see in person.
For one thing, it promises to be a very even matchup, as both fighters sport very similar records (Garcia is 24-2 with 20 knockouts, while Barrios is 29-2-2 with 18 knockouts). For another, both fighters use the orthodox style of fighting. And both are similar in height and age, with Barrios age 30 and an even 6 feet tall and Garcia age 27 and 5 feet 8 inches tall.
Garcia, who returned to fighting following a WBC ban in 2025, said at the press conference that he was “honored” to be part of the bout, adding, “I’m ready to put a beating on somebody. I’m hungry.”
Barrios, meanwhile, who, since becoming the WBC welterweight titleholder in 2023 has gone 0-0-2, added, “The boxing fans are going to get a great fight and this ain’t a fight that you want to miss.”
Garcia remains one of the sport’s biggest attractions, and he is confident he will be the new champion. But be sure that Barrios won’t be backing down one inch once that bell rings. Get ready!
