Navigating the Strip and surrounding areas can be overwhelming. There’s so much to choose from when visiting a town like Las Vegas. So we’ve prepared this handy guide to really make the most out of your stay here. Whether you’re here a day or a week, there’s something here to help you maximize your time (and, in some cases, budget).

Download the Vegas2Go app and feel like an insider wherever you go.

Luckily, the Vegas2Go app, available in the Apple Store and the Google Play Store, puts an extensive guide to the city right in the palm of your hand.

Simply set up your account and unlock a vast knowledge of the city, including special deals that you may otherwise miss out on. The app is locational, so once you’ve indicated the resort you’re staying at, toggle to the “selected” tab to see all the dining, shopping, shows and lounges in the property. Then switch to the “nearby” setting to see all the options that are within a walking distance of your temporary digs.

If you have something specific in mind, perhaps a steakhouse dinner or family-friendly fun, use the search function. Use the red drop-down menu to search everywhere (which will populate results from all over the valley), nearby or in your selected property to find exactly what you’re looking for. And if it’s a one-off show you seek, check the “events” tab for an up-to-date calendar of all the acts rolling through town during your stay.

Oh, and those exclusive offers we mentioned? They’re visible on each listing they apply to, so there’s no need to scour the web for ways to save on your Vegas vacay. Find an offer you’d like to use, select the “save” option and access it when you’re ready under the “saved offers” tab in the “more” menu. Enjoy!

There’s so much great free stuff on the Strip!

A bit cash-strapped? Or do you have a large group and want to save a bit of money on a group activity? It’s absolutely crazy how much you can do in this city that’s world-class and also free of charge. Start with a visit to the world-famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, where millions of photos are snapped each year to commemorate visits here. Then take a short trip north to the Fountains of Bellagio, which runs almost all day long and features choreographed water shows set to classic and classical music. Then head inside to the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, which changes with the seasons and is always a visual stunner. Then head over to The Forum Shops at Caesars for the Fall of Atlantis show, an animatronic marvel that’s been entertaining visitors for years. At Flamingo, explore a 4-acre paradise at Wildlife Habitat, which houses animals like long-legged Chilean flamingos, brown pelicans, local songbirds and hummingbirds, as well as swimming inhabitants like sturgeon, koi, albino catfish and more. And you can see Hand of Faith, the largest gold nugget in the world (61 pounds!), at Golden Nugget.

Great views abound!

When the sun goes down and the city lights up, it’s imperative to find a high-up place to perch and watch the city sparkle. Consider rooftop bars like Bottled Blonde Las Vegas at the Grand Bazaar Shops, which has a view of the Fountains of Bellagio, or head up to the Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck at Paris Las Vegas to see the entire Strip. Hop onto the High Roller observation wheel to not only stare out at the shimmering lights, but also have a drink at Happy Half Hour. Head further north to find Resorts World Las Vegas’ Alle Lounge on 66, which features a panoramic view of this desert oasis, or even head downtown to Circa Resort & Casino’s Legacy Club to get a view. No matter where you find yourself, you’re sure to be mesmerized.

You can take a magical history tour.

While Las Vegas is much younger than many other major metropolises, we have some very fascinating history that you can discover at an assortment of venues. Visit the Neon Museum (which currently offers $5 off with a Nevada ID via the Vegas2Go app) to peruse the Boneyard, which is full of vintage and refurbished neon signs that belonged to various properties all over town. Take a guided tour to hear all kinds of fun factoids or explore at your own pace taking in the beautiful craftsmanship that gave this city a part of its identity. Or visit Atomic Museum Vegas, where visitors can learn about the Nevada Test Site and the culture of curiosity the nuclear weapons tests spurred in the valley. Lastly, head downtown to the Mob Museum, where you can learn about the effects of organized crime on the casino business and the surrounding valley.
