No bull—Gilley’s Girl gives guests sweet service
With the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in town this week, dust will be kicking up not only inside the arenas, but also at Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall & Bar-B-Que at Treasure Island. In the midst of all the action at the country-western bar is Gilley’s Girl Tiffany Scanga.
“NFR is definitely our busiest time of year,” said the Las Vegas native.
Scanga has been living it up as a Gilley’s Girl for three years—the T.I. bar is her first foray into the industry. “I was dressed in typical interview clothes, going to different places to drop off my resume,” she recalled. “I saw a posting for Gilley’s Girl auditions. When I got there, everyone was wearing a bathing suit top and Daisy Dukes. I was dressed all wrong,” she recalled, laughing. “But, I took off my heels and went out there and auditioned. I ended up getting the first call back and landed the job.”
As a Gilley’s Girl, Scanga’s job is to make sure all guests are taken care of when it comes to cocktails. She also participates in the choreographed Gilley’s Girl dances performed throughout the evening, in addition to line dancing and two-stepping. You can also catch her riding the mechanical bull. “We do tricks, ride the bull backwards, ride the bull while it’s in a full buck; some girls even surf the bull,” she said, laughing.
“Come to Gilley’s,” she said. “During NFR—it’s a wild and crazy time, and the Gilley’s Girls are in the middle of all the excitement, taking care of our guests.”
Treasure Island is the official sponsor hotel of the 2015 NFR bull riders during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Dec. 3-12. Throughout the rodeo, Gilley’s serves up a specialty cocktail: the Naughty Cowgirl, mixed with Crown Royal Regal apple whisky, amaretto liqueur and cranberry juice. Also on tap are 2-for-1 Crown Royal drink specials during the meet-and-greet sessions with riders Tyler Corrington and Steve Woolsey (Dec. 9) and Chandler Bownds and Woolsey (Dec. 11). Gilley’s also hosts live bands throughout the rodeo, so put on those dancing boots!
