SLS’ Fun Captain at helm of guests’ experiences
Ladies and gentleman, this is your Fun Captain, Romeo Butihi, and he’ll be with you for the duration of your stay at SLS Las Vegas.
Butihi helps head up the #MyVegasStory program that the property launched over the summer. The program is for guests 21 and over that book a room in the Story Tower. After checking in, head over to the Captain’s Quarters. That’s where Butihi will meet with you and help plan out the best Vegas vacation ever, he said. Similar to a personal concierge, Butihi is available to his guests 24 hours a day.
“I make sure the rooms are stocked with all the libations. I help snap pictures. If they need dinner reservations, need to get on guest lists, book bottle service, I can put them in contact with hosts, book show tickets and tours. I’m the go-to person,” said the Hawaii native.
Butihi has a lot of experience entertaining people. For nearly a decade, he was a professional hula and Tahitian dancer in his hometown. He also splits his time as the Fun Captain and a VIP concierge at SLS.
Inside the Captain’s Quarters, guests can snap selfies with a bunch of wild props, sign a personal message on the walls, indulge in some libations, and even sit down and chat with Butihi. “I’m also like a counselor,” he said.
“It’s always been about people for me; listening to their stories,” he said. “I can relate to any people from all walks of life. It’s about creating lasting memories for people.”
The property’s specialty cocktail, the Monkey Suit, mixes together Maker’s Mark, banana liqueur, sweet vermouth, walnut bitters and caramelized banana slices. And, bonus, those that book a two-night stay at the Story Tower receive even more goodies. Waiting for you in your room will be a bottle of vodka, a bottle of Fireball, Bud Light, Red Bull, Pepsi, salty and sweet snacks, a whole bunch of bottled water, and even a contraceptive pack. “For those crazy nights,” Butihi said, smiling.
