Let Dylan Taucer be your guide through global cuisine
It’s all about global cuisine at Tom’s Urban at New York-New York, popular street foods from all parts of the world. And who better to help represent that blend better than a man who has, in fact, traveled the globe himself?
“I like to really submerge myself into each culture,” said Dylan Taucer, senior marketing and events manager for Tom’s Urban. “I like to try and speak the language, eat their food, drink their alcohol. Be a local.” His travels have taken him to Mexico, Germany, Costa Rica, Canada, Scotland, Italy, Milan, Rome, Austria, Florence and the list goes on and on.
Taucer’s love for travel has opened him to new experiences, new people and an appreciation for other cultures—and he applies those positives to his career. He joined Tom’s Urban last fall and has since used his knowledge to help with the menus, while also setting up events and overseeing group sales. “I always make sure I’m representing the brand,” he said.
Taucer also brings extensive knowledge of the city and of the industry to his position. His resume itself, like the restaurant, is quite eclectic. He’s worked for Interscope Records; he helped establish Vegas’ food truck scene with some of his buddies, launching trucks like Slidin’ Thru and the Vegas StrEATS food truck festival. He’s even done marketing for UNLV’s Runnin’ Rebels and operates his own entertainment firm, representing clients like the Rusty Maples.
“It’s really about being able to understand how people work,” Taucer said. “You have to be sharp and keep up with the times. I always say, you can do anything you want. Don’t be ordinary.”
Cactus Ass Kick
In addition to his other duties, Taucer also contributes to the creation of cocktail menu at Tom’s Urban. “We have more than 25 handcrafted cocktails,” he said. “And they’re all good.” A popular pick, and a potent one hence the name, is the Cactus Ass Kick. The signature cocktail mixes together Herradura tequila, hibiscus syrup, prickly pear juice and lemonade.”
