Drai's model cocktail server ends up right where she wants
When one dream didn’t work out for Peyton Hunton, that didn’t stop her; instead she pursued another dream of hers. “I played sports my whole life and got a full-ride scholarship to Florida State, for softball,” said the Las Vegas native. “I was a pitcher. But the first year, I injured my knee and had to have surgery. It crushed my dream, but it all worked out in the end because I ended up being where I wanted to be.” That’s at Drai’s Beachclub at The Cromwell, where Hunton is a model cocktail server.
At just 16 years old she dreamed of one day working on the Strip, specifically at a pool club. She started at the bottom, working at different off-Strip properties in positions like pool attendant, housekeeper and server; eventually she made it onto the Strip as a restaurant hostess. “That’s where I started meeting people in the industry,” Hunton said. And when she turned 21, one of the hosts from Drai’s urged her to apply for a position at the beachclub. “I didn’t expect to land the job, but I did. It felt amazing,” she said. That was last season. “This is my second season and I’m 100 percent adapted now. I’m so happy to be back. I love it here.”
You can find Hunton taking care of guests in the bungalows and cabanas. “I love meeting new people,” she said. You can talk about her passion for fly fishing and deep sea fishing. Or, discuss art—she loves making ceramic pottery. “I’ve always been a tomboy and a girly girl,” she said, smiling.
