When it comes to working in the Las Vegas daylife industry, model cocktail server Justine Delmundo is a veteran. She got into the industry more than seven years ago, working at various pool clubs including Drai’s Beachclub, Encore Beach Club and her first job at the OG dayclub, Rehab, where she auditioned on a lark and landed the position. Now Delmundo is celebrating her second season at Daylight Beach Club at Mandalay Bay.
“I’ve always loved dayclubs—yes, it’s hot—but you get to spend all day with people, with guests, and I love that,” she says. “Another reason I love working in this industry (is) in high school I was really, really shy, and working this kind of job has made me come out of my shell.”
Delmundo’s job entails mainly taking care of cabana guests—many there to celebrate big occasions, and that’s the favorite part of her job, she says. “Being a part of someone’s big celebration—whether it’s a birthday, bachelor party, divorce party—it’s just nice to be a part of someone’s special day and contribute to it and celebrate with them. I’m the host of their party, so it’s really nice to see their reactions to the party we give them.”
When Delmundo isn’t giving her guests the time of their life at Daylight, you’ll find her hitting the books. She’s currently enrolled in college, studying to be a physician’s assistant with plans to work in the emergency room. You can also find the Tacoma, Wash., native (she was raised in Las Vegas) hitting the hiking trails, mainly in Zion National Park, where she’s trying to hike every trail. She also loves to fish. “I just love being outdoors,” Delmundo says. It seems like working in daylife—albeit a different type of outdoors—is a perfect fit.
Libation: Watermelon Lemonade
A simple recipe, but really tasty, the Strawberry Lemonade cocktail is a mix of Skyy Infusions Wild Strawberry vodka, fresh muddled strawberries and housemade lemonade. This week, celebrate Labor Day Weekend festivities. “Sometimes the party gets wild in here,” Delmundo says. “It’s so much fun—people dancing, splashing in the water, performances on the big stage.” Catch special performances by Waka Flaka Flame Sept. 4, Jeezy Sept. 5 and DJ Drama Sept. 6.
