Good eats and drinks, an eclectic atmosphere and a hot hub for live music make House of Blues Restaurant a must-visit dining destination, and its food server Ashely Rutherford is the cherry on top. “I love to be a part of everyone’s night,” she says.
Rutherford has immediate charm, putting guests at ease from the moment she walks up—it’s a skill she’s sharpened since she was a teen, as she’s made a whole career of waiting tables in cities like Ohio, Chicago and, for the past 15 years, Las Vegas, with a decade at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. “You learn the skills; you just keep swimming and going and getting better at it,” she says. “Serving is all I’ve ever done, because I love it.”
It doesn’t hurt that Rutherford works at one of the coolest spots on the Strip either, she says. She’s seen some great concerts (she has served inside House of Blues’ music hall, too) including Santana, Green Day, Salt-N-Pepa and Joan Jett. And because of her bubbly personality she’s been scheduled to work VIP, serving guests like Dave Grohl, Alice Cooper, Mark Davis and the Jackson family. “My favorite thing to do is seeing concerts and shows, so I’ve been lucky I get to work here,” she says.
So if you’re wondering where to go, we’ve just made it easy for you. Head to House of Blues Restaurant, settle in for good food and music, and request Rutherford as your server!
