Kara Hatzinger has wanderlust in her heart—the globetrotter has been to 65 countries and counting, with favorites like Cambodia, Bosnia and Israel. She has plans to hit all the national parks, too, and has racked up 28 to date. Her future travel goals include Madagascar and Sri Lanka. So, what does Hatzinger do when not on an adventure? She’s the general manager of Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club at The Linq Promenade.

“The No. 1 part of my job is the customer experience,” she says. “Reach out to guests that come in, get to know them and make sure they have a great experience.” And Hatzinger is well schooled in the customer experience, as she’s spent two decades in retail management across the country. “I’ve done everything, I’ve learned everything in retail management, so I needed a new challenge and needed a new place to learn something different, and this was it,” she says. She joined the comedy club a few months ago.

Now it’s her job to help deliver the high standards of the club when it comes to food, drink and stand-up comedy. “I like to think we start the jokes and the fun down here, and then the comics upstairs take it home from there,” Hatzinger says. “I get to joke around with the guests. I’m a little sarcastic so I get to play around with them a little bit. I get paid to make people happy and have a great experience and joke around with me. This job is amazing.”

Libation: Top of Sahara

Before heading upstairs to the showroom, hang in the comedy club’s bar and lounge and indulge in some libations that Jimmy Kimmel helped create—like the Top of Sahara. The great summer sip is mixed with Bacardi Superior rum, Myers’s Original dark rum, Cointreau, lime and pineapple juices, and passion fruit purée.
