Think of a slick, old-school Las Vegas steakhouse and a manager that fits that vibe perfectly. Welcome to Phil’s Steak House at Treasure Island, run by general manager Sal Cavalcante.
Cavalcante is one of those managers that makes a memorable impression; he puts his staff and guests first, and he’s not afraid to crack a joke or two. “You gotta like what you’re doing, you gotta like people,” says the Brooklyn native. “It’s about making someone happy, making our guests’ time here happy. Also make the environment for your staff a good place to work and give your staff the tools they need to succeed. I hope my staff thinks I’m cool.”
Cavalcante has been “cool” for decades. He spent many years in Florida managing a nightclub and restaurants before moving to Las Vegas and spending more than a decade working for Caesars Entertainment at properties like Paris Las Vegas, Rio Las Vegas and Bally’s. “You don’t jump companies, you be loyal,” a shared piece of wisdom from Cavalcante. He joined Treasure Island four years ago, and he’s in it for the long haul.
“I proved myself, improved morale,” he says “… You want to be part of a team, not just an employee, and here I am—you’re valued here.” And in turn, he takes that feeling and passes it on to his guests. “I welcome all my guests. I want them to feel at home.” Ya can’t get more old-school than that.

Libation: Old-Fashioned
What’s a more old-school cocktail than an Old-Fashioned? At Phil’s Steak House, they whip up an impressive version mixed with Brother’s Bond bourbon, spiced brown sugar syrup, Angostura bitters and Angostura orange bitters.
Benefit: Don’t miss the special section on the cocktail menu called V.I.P.S (Very Important Pours).
