Get ready to shred! The G3 Tour is back, and the 2018 edition is full of guitar-playing nastiness. If you’ve never heard of G3, it is a must-see event for guitar superfans. It was created by strings virtuoso Joe Satriani. The rotating lineup always features the founder plus two other wizards of the instrument. The three monsters of rock guitar share the stage and play both originals and covers with many sets ending with a raucous version of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World.”

Past installments of G3 have included spotlighted axemen like Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Yngwie Malmsteen, along with special guests like Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top and Neal Schon from Journey. This year’s installment shines the light on Satriani, John Petrucci and Phil Collen.

Satriani is probably the most famous guitar teacher in the world. He is also the top-selling instrumental guitarist ever, with more than 10 million records sold. He has toured with Mick Jagger, Deep Purple and is a member of the supergroup Chickenfoot. Petrucci is a founding member of prog-metal outfit Dream Theater and has been their producer since 1999. He has been a part of six G3 tours, more than anybody besides Satriani. And Collen is the lead guitarist for glam metal icons Def Leppard. Shred on, dudes!
