On Feb. 22, we celebrate all things tequila, triple sec and lime—it’s National Margarita Day. With a nearly 100-year history, this cocktail has grown a lot in flavor and presentation since its inception—and here in Las Vegas you can get the classic, as well as twists and turns on the original recipe. So come along, it’s time to go on a margarita tour. (Stock up on water for the next day—we’re talking tequila after all.)

Check out Hussong’s Cantina at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place. This brand claims to be the home of the original margarita. The bar opened in Ensenada, Mexico, in 1892 and is reputed to have invented the margarita in 1942 after a bartender mixed up the drink and named it after the German ambassador’s daughter that was visiting. Here, try the original margarita and share the Romance Margarita (a huge cocktail) with your sweetie.

If you want to try one of the best blended strawberry margaritas on the Strip, head to El Segundo Sol at FSLV (Fashion Show Las Vegas). Order two and enjoy it while sitting Stripside on the restaurant’s cool-looking patio.

Take a stroll through The Linq Promenade and make stops into Chayo Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar for its holiday special, the La Donya, a blood orange margarita made with Codigo blanco tequila. Also sip on two of Chayo’s other popular drinks, the cucumber margarita and the High Roller margarita. At Virgil’s Real Barbecue, get the watermelon margarita, Ruby’s rockin’ summer-rita or the High Roller margarita starting at $13.50. The Virgil’s margarita is just $7 from 2-5 p.m.

Uno Mas Street Tacos + Spirits at Sahara Las Vegas offers one of the best deals—$5 margaritas all day long. There is also a $25 specialty drink—the Taco Man’s mango margarita, a frozen mango margarita served with a mini ahi taco, poached shrimp and a tamarind-flavored straw.

Three outlets at The STRAT are offering specially made margaritas throughout the day. Stop into Top of the World and PT’s Wings & Sports. And at 108 Drinks enjoy two-for-one strawberry margaritas during the sky-high happy hour from 3-6 p.m.

Locals love Tacos & Tequilas' food and margaritas at Palace Station, so put this spot on your list and try the pineapple chipotle margarita, a smoky, sweet and spicy treat (pair it up with T&T’s amazing tacos). Another favorite spot of locals is Borracha Mexican Cantina at Green Valley Ranch, where you can order the “Pick Your Poison” margarita special from 4-10 p.m. Pick the margarita’s flavor like lime or blood orange; the type of rim like sugar or salt; and whether to make the cocktail sweet or spicy. The price isn’t bad either, only $16 for a 16-ounce glass; or go big for just $24 with a 32-ounce margarita bowl.

At the Cosmopolitan, STK Steakhouse is offering 50% off of the perfect margarita all day long.

Chill at Mi Casa Grill Cantina at Silverton Casino from 4-9 p.m. with buy one, get one free margaritas.

And how could you not stop into a place that actually has the word “margarita” in its name? Margaritaville at Flamingo offers The Perfect Margarita, which mixes the restaurant’s own brand of silver and gold tequila, triple sec and fresh-squeezed lime juice—it’s classic, and simple, and really delicious. You can also enjoy the restaurant’s all-day happy hour with $7 margaritas.
