On and Off the Strip: Michael Mina, Sara's and more
On the Strip: Michael Mina
Michael Mina (Bellagio, 866.259.7111) has long been considered one of the elite experiences on the Las Vegas Strip. A recent renovation and menu overhaul only fortified that position, but the seafood-focused restaurant in Bellagio’s beautiful conservatory isn’t resting on laurels. Diners can indulge in two new seasonal menus that showcase the venue’s versatility.
The Summer of Mina Tasting Menu is a five-course experience that includes sweet corn gazpacho, hot charcoal-grilled shellfish and Valrhona chocolate cake, all incorporating the flavors of summer into creative new dishes. For a more casual meal, belly up to the bar for the Summer of Mina Bar Menu, starring small plates that pack a powerful punch like roasted foie gras sliders, classic clams casino or Mina’s legendary caviar parfait. This chef may call the Bay Area home but he really made his name in Las Vegas, and his namesake restaurant continues to set a high standard for fine dining. Taste for yourself.
Off the Strip: Sara’s
Celebrity chef Michael Symon doesn’t know how to do it any other way than big. For his first Las Vegas restaurant, he decided to open two: the bold and boisterous Mabel’s BBQ and the hidden, swanky Sara’s (Palms, 702.942.7777). Discovering Sara’s is like stepping into a time machine when robust flavors, cool cocktails and tableside service were standard operating procedure. Start with escargot loaded with bacon, breadcrumbs and lemon and move on to a classic Caesar or lobster Cobb salad before indulging in smoked prime rib or truffle fried chicken. Symon is making memorable meals at Sara’s nightly.
