Las Vegas celebrities are just like us. Well, maybe not most of the time, but we’re all spending more time at home working on our kitchen skills and the entertainers on the Strip are no different. Here’s a quick glimpse at what some of the comedians, magicians and musicians of Las Vegas are cooking up.

Carrot Top (Luxor) “I’ve been going out on my boat (in Florida) and then grilling out. We have a routine where we go from taco night to burger night to fish night to steak night. It’s a grill fest. I’m not much of a cook but I did do a fun Zoom with a chef at MGM’s Jean Georges (steakhouse) at Aria and it was really fun. He and I made a carrot salad dish. But actually I have gotten better in the kitchen and cooking is a little easier. I’m a pretty simple guy. I love making a good marinara meat sauce and I’m getting better at that. I made one last week that I think could be award-winning. If this lasts much longer, I might become the next Wolfgang Puck!”

Shin Lim (Shin Lim: Limitless at The Mirage) “I’ve been learning how to cook because I’ve never really done it. I’ve been watching a lot of Gordon Ramsay. Even though I’m Canadian and American, my heritage comes mainly from Singapore and I’ve been learning a lot of authentic dishes from that (city), which is really cool because it’s the food I ate when I was younger and it brings a lot of nostalgia. It’s really nice to know I can actually do this. There’s a dish called Hainanese chicken rice, which was mostly developed in Singapore, and I’ve been making that a lot.”

Nieve Malandra (NoMad Las Vegas and Mama Rabbit at Park MGM) “On Easter we couldn’t find any ham so I made lamb kefta, like a Persian-style meatloaf but you put it on a skewer. I seasoned the meat really well with mint and different spices and then grilled it. My kids just loved it and I also made some sauces: tzatziki, fresh hummus and chimichurri. It was kind of a mix of cultures. They loved that and had me make it again last night.”

Lorena Peril (Fantasy at Luxor) “Bacon. There’s a lot of bacon. But I dance it off.”

Vinny “Vin A” Adolfini (The Bronx Wanderers at Harrah’s) “I think you should ask my girlfriend that question because I’m horrible at cooking. For her birthday I got her an air fryer and for Christmas I got her an Instant Pot and I don’t even know what this stuff is. She’s been amazing. If I didn’t have her, I’d be eating (instant) ramen six nights a week. She’s so good. She makes these zucchini boats with shrimp, and garlic salmon, and steak … she got me this cool little thing where I can make a sausage, egg and cheese in one thing. I can put the English muffin, the egg on top and it makes it in five minutes. I’ve been loving that thing!”

Lydia Ansel (Centra Lounge at Luxor) “My favorite thing is baking because I have a pretty big sweet tooth. I’ve been in Hawaii and on the islands a lot of things are made with coconut. I’ve been having fun with coconut breads and putting coconut milk in everything, and I’m really enjoying the coconut curries. And the seafood, it’s hard to mess that up. You put a little salt and pepper and it’s so fresh and delicious. It’s great.”

Ross Mollison (Producer of Absinthe at Caesars Palace, Atomic Saloon Show at The Grand Canal Shoppes and Opium at The Cosmopolitan) “One thing I have learned is how to make pizza pretty well. I’ve been making pizza like crazy because I never cook normally and now I have to cook. The Breville pizza oven is wonderful.”
