People wait all year long for this! No, it’s not the holiday season; it’s stone crab season, which kicked off in November at Piero’s Italian Cuisine, and runs through May.

At the revered, family-owned and -run restaurant, you can take advantage of the ocean’s bounty with two sizes of the specialty appetizer—large and jumbo. Florida stone crab claws are priced starting at $30 and come chilled and served with a house-made mustard sauce. Pair that with one of Piero’s classic, huge cocktails.

That’s practically the perfect opener for seafood fans, who may want to follow it up with an entrée of Glory Bay salmon picatta with lemon and capers, or jumbo shrimp scampi. If you’re finished with the seafood for the night, though, eggplant Parmesan is a delicious, almost meaty, main. Veal chops and a 16-ounce New York prime are hot picks as well. Pasta fans will adore agnolotti, filled with spinach and ricotta, and penne in vodka sauce, served with pancetta.

And linguine pomodoro is a simple solution to too many choices. Sides are plentiful, and the problem there is trying to find room on the table for everything you’ll order—whipped potatoes with garlic and butter, crispy Brussels sprouts, baby portobello mushrooms with cherry peppers and grilled asparagus are just a few of your choices.

Cap it all off with an espresso and you’ll be satisfied—probably until next stone crab season begins!
