Las Vegas is a town full of outposts of some of the most popular restaurants in the world. And best of all, those outposts are usually equal to—if not better than—the originals. And whether you’ve tried the original Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse in Houston, Texas, or not, odds are you will agree that it’s easily one of the best restaurants in all of downtown Vegas.
This is what you picture in your mind if you close your eyes and imagine a classic steakhouse—dark woods, immaculately appointed tables, soft lighting fixtures and an attentive and impeccably dressed staff. While you sip on classic cocktails like a Manhattan or Old-Fashioned or sip a vintage from the restaurant’s enormous selection, get things started with delightful appetizers like steak tartare, featuring filet mignon and served with puffed rice chips, pickled shallots and a horseradish aioli, all topped with a cured egg yolk; a maple-glazed quail with sriracha sauce; or a lobster bisque with a cognac base.
There are simply too many great steaks to recommend here, but a fan favorite is the chateaubriand. While a close cousin to filet mignon, this is served in a much bigger portion—20 ounces of juicy, silky-smooth deliciousness. You can choose to have it served whole or sliced into smaller portions; there are no wrong choices. Complements include bearnaise sauce and blue cheese bacon butter.
Not in a steak mood? No problem. Mac and cheese gets a major upgrade with the dinner-sized portion of fried lobster mac and cheese, prepared with a 5-ounce lobster tail, cavatappi pasta and lobster cheese sauce. Fowl fans will flip for the succulent pan-roasted chicken, served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Seafood lovers will have a tough time deciding between the roasted salmon, served with smoked Gouda, jumbo lump crab, mashed potatoes and asparagus, and the halibut, accompanied by gremolata, celery root risotto, baby squash and zucchini.
