With this issue coming out on Father’s Day, I’ve been reflecting on some of my fondest memories with my own dad, including family dinners at locals’ favorite I Love Sushi, which sits just down the street from my childhood home. I grew to become a bit of a sushi aficionado, and I’ve had some of the most delicious sushi in town, so why not turn to the zodiac to help me give you the perfect recs?

Kaia (AREA15. area15.com)

Find a sushi experience as playful as you are, Gemini, when you round up some buddies and pay a visit to AREA15’s Kaia to try your luck at Sushi Roulette. Perfect for this curious and adventurous air sign, it’s exactly as it sounds—for just $22 you’ll receive five tempting pieces of nigiri, but one is a bit … special. While four of the nigiri will be the delicious sushi bites you know and love, one is packed full of enough wasabi to, at minimum, clear your sinuses. It won’t be apparent at first glance, but whomever’s unlucky (or lucky, depending how you see it) enough to eat the zinger will receive a Bad Sushi Mystery Box from the nearby Superplastic attraction.

Once you’ve whet your appetite and at least one of your friends needs a palette cleanser, explore the rest of this super-trendy and creative menu. Order the Kaia Signature Handroll for a mouthwatering concoction of snow crab that’s been baked in honey aioli, wrapped in sesame soy paper and topped with rich big eye tuna and Kaluga caviar. For something you can share, order The Spine, a cut roll filled with snow crab and asparagus, rolled in arare rice cracker pearls and topped with yuzu honey mixed-fish poke.

More raw options (raw-ptions, if you will) include classic and specialty sashimi, various non-risky nigiri and poke bowls. While seafood is certainly the star here, don’t miss the hot bar items. Vegetable dumplings and shrimp shu mai make great appetizers, while tonkotsu spicy pork ramen offers an über-umami entreé with chashu pork, bean sprouts, choy sum, wood ear mushrooms, corn, serrano chilis and gochujang, a spicy, fermented Korean red chili paste.

Cancer (June 21-July 22):

All You Can Eat at Sushi Neko (5115 W. Spring Mountain Road, #117. 702.247.4241. dragonfactories.com)

We know this lovable water sign has all the emotions, and sometimes it’s OK to eat your feelings. Here you’ll find an extensive assortment of rolls, sashimi and Japanese apps, but what makes this spot exceptional is its nigiri’s generous fish-to-rice ratio.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22):

Chef’s Choice Plate at Sushi Roku (The Forum Shops at Caesars. 702.733.7373. sushiroku.com)

Leading Leos tend to take control, but you’ll need to challenge yourself and let chef do what chef does best here. Relinquish your power and enjoy seven pieces of the freshest nigiri the day has to offer and a custom handroll just as unique as you are.

Dragon Roll at Red Asian Cuisine (Golden Nugget. 702.385.7111. goldennugget.com)

It’s all about ol’ reliable for this practical Earth sign, and a well-executed dragon roll never disappoints. Find a classic California roll with the addition of meaty freshwater eel beneath beautiful avocado scales, all drizzled in sweet eel sauce and made extra cute with a little face and antennae.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22):

Japanese Red Snapper with Dry Miso at Nobu Las Vegas (Paris Las Vegas. 702.946.4007. caesars.com)

Associated with balance and harmony, Libras delight in light, intentionally executed bites, and that’s what chef Nobu Matsuhisa excels at. This small plate featuring beautiful slices of the delicate, slightly sweet fish complemented by a pungent, umami dry miso is perfection.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21):

Hundred Grand Roll at Rikki Tiki Sushi (Westgate Las Vegas. 702.732.5755. westgateresorts.com)

Having a loyal Scorpio in your life feels like having $100,000, and so does taking a bite of this scrumptious sushi creation. Made with lobster tempura, crab, smelt roe and cucumber, this luxe dish is elegantly simple, yet has depth of flavor, much like Scorpio’s personality.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21):

Hot Mess Roll at Kumi Japanese Restaurant & Bar (Mandalay Bay. 702.632.9100. mandalaybay.mgmresorts.com)

A delicious roll made of kanikama and avocado, piled high with poke sashimi and drizzled in screaming o sauce, this bright and flavorful offering (featuring once of the most delicious sauces known to man) perfectly encapsulates the passionate and brazen celestial centaur.

Handroll Set at Temaki Bar (Proper Eats Food Hall at Aria. 702.590.8664. propereatslasvegas.com)

I’ve never met a Capricorn with time to waste, so fast-casual and handheld just makes sense. Order a set of three, four or five handrolls with salmon, yellowtail, spicy tuna, toro or blue crab. Don’t forget the dipping sauces, especially the citrusy, spicy yuzu kosho, and a glass of sake.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18):

Signature Menu at Kame Omakase (3616 W. Spring Mountain Road, Ste. 103. 702.771.0122. sushikame.com)

Social and intellectual, the final air sign of the Zodiac will appreciate a meticulously crafted meal in the company of their closest friends and family. At this omakase, find delicious signature dishes like the Hokkaido scallop, with toro, uni and caviar.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20):

Silver State Roll at Kusa Nori (Resorts World Las Vegas. 702.676.6965. rwlasvegas.com)

Indulge in a crunchy and delicious combination of king crab, avocado, cucumber, arare rice crackers, tobiko and premium sweet soy under the magnificent koi fish sculptures that float around the ceiling of this chic restaurant—perfect for making the celestial fish feel right at home.

Aries (March 21-April 19):

Popping Spicy Crab at Yellowtail Japanese Restaurant & Lounge (Bellagio. 702.730.3900. bellagio.mgmresorts.com)

It’s only natural that the fiery Aries gets a roll with a bit of heat, but this unique combination of spicy crab, cucumber, asparagus and Pop Rocks perfectly reflects the Ram’s bold fearlessness. Who else would be daring enough to combine sushi and candy?

Taurus (April 20-May 20):

King Salmon Truffle at Wakuda (The Venetian. 702.665.8592. venetianlasvegas.com)

This one is all earthiness, decadence and flavor. Need I say more, Taurus? Rich, buttery king salmon (an absolute delicacy) is drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and truffle soy then topped with aged Parmesan and truffle shavings. It’s the indulgence you seek with hints of nuttiness and umami.
