Don Rickles has entertained Las Vegas audiences for more than 50 years. “Having this kind of staying power in Las Vegas means a great deal,” Rickles said, adding that he still “gets a great reaction from people both young and old.”
Frequently known by the nicknames “The Merchant of Venom” and “Mr. Warmth,” Rickles has been picking on audiences and hurling his trademark barrage of insults for decades, with adoring fans begging for more.
“I’ve never been mean or cruel when I say things,” said Rickles, explaining, “I have a great deal of affection when I say them and I like to comment on situations that are funny.”
Rickles, 89, said, “I have developed my own style, which is completely Don Rickles, and it was a long, tough road for me.” That style has inspired, and been emulated by, many comics.
The talented Rickles is also an accomplished movie and television actor, and has won two Emmy Awards for his work. And while Rickles loves stand-up comedy, movies and television, he’s also a sports nut, cheering on his beloved Dodgers.
