Nostalgic concerts seem to be the “it” thing lately. And the Throwback Sizzling Jam at Orleans Arena is another one to add to the list. At the annual concert, benefiting Andern Educational Research’s Greater Educational Milestones scholarship program, reminisce on R&B hits from the ’90s and ’00s with Blackstreet, K-Ci & JoJo, 112, Silk and RL, plus special guest rapper Warren G (pictured).
Blackstreet reached mainstream success with “Before I Let You Go,” “Don’t Leave Me” and the Grammy Award-winning hit “No Diggity.” Original members Teddy Riley and Dave Hollister will step into the spotlight for one hot performance—no diggity, no doubt. Speaking of Hollister, he’s related to Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey and Joel “JoJo” Hailey, who make up one-half of R&B group Jodeci. K-Ci & JoJo’s claim to fame as a duo is “All My Life,” a ballad from their debut album Love Always.
112 broke out onto the scene in 1996 with “Only You” on Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Records, plus hits “Anywhere” and “Peaches and Cream.” In August, 112 returns to their Bad Boy roots for a reunion tour headlined by Puff Daddy, Lil Kim, Mase and Faith Evans. Keith Sweat’s protégé Silk and RL round out the R&B lineup. And lastly, Warren G plans to “Regulate” the night with a side of West Coast hip-hop.
