The deep chasms and colors of The Grand Canyon have called to visitors for over a hundred years—and now it’s your turn. If you can’t spend a week exploring the national park, then take just one day, and you'll have another item off your bucket list. Gray Line Las Vegas offers several types of excursions to the canyon from Vegas, and all are doable in a day.

And it’s easier than you think: You’ll be picked up at your hotel in the morning and dropped off that night, a day of chilling out in luxury in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van (for the deluxe South Rim tour), watching videos and checking out the scenery as someone else does the driving.

As you get close to the South Rim, you’ll hear some of the history of the area, from the early explorers to building railroad lines and hotels, and take in beautiful scenery—keep your eyes open for wildlife as you approach and travel through the park. After lunch in the National Geographic visitors center (and a viewing of an iMax film, if so desired), you’ll continue to the park. Helicopter tours are available as add-ons when you book a South Rim tour, so if you've added that on, you’ll be dropped off at the air terminal near the canyon. You'll next stop for about an hour, perhaps at the Yavapai Geology Museum, where you can view the canyon in glass-enclosed comfort, or wander along the canyon’s edge for more views.

Soon, you’ll be transported to the village, where you can catch exquisite views of the canyon and train depot, get drinks and snacks, wander the rim trail for a bit and shop for souvenirs. At Bright Angel Lodge, there’s even a history room with artifacts and exhibits.

Then it’s time to hit the road again for the trip back—hey, where did the day go?
