For emo fans who were adolescents when The Used broke out, it may be hard to believe the hard rockers are currently on tour celebrating their 15th anniversary. But it has indeed been 15 years since the original members came together in Orem, Utah, and nearly that long since self-titled first album The Used was released in 2002. Now, original members Bert McCracken and Jeph Howard, along with later members Dan Whitesides and Justin Shekoski, are celebrating the band’s existence with a two-night stand at Brooklyn Bowl on May 24-25, playing the first two albums in their entirety.
The first night will showcase that 2002 debut, including the hit “Buried Myself Alive,” while the second night will feature 2004 album In Love and Death, with hits “Take It Away” and “All I’ve Got,” among others. “It’s going to be pretty special to see these songs live, probably for the first time for a lot of people,” Howard told Alternative Press when announcing the anniversary tour. Fans will also get digital copies of the band’s Live & Acoustic at the Palace album with each ticket purchase, completing the look back at the history of one of emo’s most influential acts.
