While hard rock music has faded a bit from the spotlight in the U.S., it remains a huge force in Europe, thanks to bands like British metalcore outfit Asking Alexandria, which has had a major influence on a new generation of metal bands. Since it formed in 2008, it has been steadily building a fanbase in the U.S. And while 2016 album The Black featured Denis Stoff taking over for original lead singer Danny Worsnop, Worsnop has since returned to the fold.
“This is full circle; this is right back where we started and why we started the band,” guitarist and band founder Ben Barnes said in a Facebook video. That’s the kind of dedication that has helped Asking Alexandria garner more U.S. fans. It’s also supporting the metal scene here, with U.S. bands Born of Osiris, I See Stars, After the Burial, Upon a Burning Body and Bad Omens all joining Asking Alexandria on the this tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of metal label Sumerian Records. Hard rock in the U.S. may be down, but it’s certainly not out.
