For those of you who thought the hardest rock act to ever come out of Australia was AC/DC (sorry, Silverchair, you don’t get the nod here), we present to you Parkway Drive, Down Under’s foremost metalcore outfit. If you’re not sure what metalcore is, it’s a mix between heavy metal and hardcore punk. That means everything is loud! And unlike other acts in the genre, this quintet of ferocity likes its vocals and guitars dirty.
The boys from New South Wales took their name from the street where they rehearsed after their 2003 formation. How very E Street of you, mates. The Parkway House—their rehearsal space—became a hotbed for local punkers and metalheads who had no place else to go to get this type of music. In a way, Parkway Drive’s rehearsals were actually their early live shows.
Live is mostly where it’s at for the band, although it has also released five albums. These guys are touring all-stars, with roadwork throughout North America, South America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Their stop in Las Vegas will no doubt be full of thrashing, moshing and downright energy. Would you expect anything less?
