Kanye West may be the biggest star in music, and he knows it. But the rapper’s outsized ego is a big part of his charm and success, and his high opinion of himself means that he’s never afraid to push boundaries in his music, to take chances with the confidence that his audience will follow him on whatever experiment he attempts. West’s latest bold musical project is the tour supporting his album The Life of Pablo, which was released earlier this year. Even the act of releasing an album offered West the chance to reinvent his approach to music, and he updated and revised Pablo even after the album was available.

For the Saint Pablo tour, West has put together a concert experience featuring innovations like a floating stage that places him right in the heart of the audience for the entire performance (Billboard called it “mind-blowing”) and an extensive lighting setup that covers nearly an entire arena (necessary when the stage itself isn’t in the usual place). West crams a career’s worth of hits, from “Jesus Walks” to “Famous,” into 90 minutes, showcasing the bold evolution that has come from his relentless belief in himself.
