Loverboy’s “Working For The Weekend” is ubiquitous with pop culture. It’s been featured in films from Zoolander to Click. It’s used in the successful video games Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Saints Row 2. It’s made television appearances on the Adult Swim animated show Regular Show and in a RadioShack Super Bowl commercial. And, perhaps most famously, it’s the song Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze gyrate to on Saturday Night Live’s “Chippendales” skit.

Though the track only reached No. 29 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, it has taken on a life of its own. “Working For The Weekend” denotes a time, a place and a memory for people. It’s an anthem for people trying to finish up the work week so they can party 1980s style from Friday at 5 p.m. all the way till Monday morning. It’s a mantra as much as it is a song. “You want a piece of my heart? / You better start from the start / You want to be in the show ?/ C’mon baby, let’s go.” Yes, Loverboy. Let’s indeed go.
