The title of Japanese hard rock band One Ok Rock’s latest album is Ambitions, and that’s appropriate for a band increasingly bent on world domination. One Ok Rock has been hugely popular in its native Japan for years now, regularly drawing tens of thousands of fans to concerts in arenas and stadiums around the country. Starting in 2013, the band has also been reaching out to audiences beyond Asia, touring Europe, South America and the U.S., with slots opening for acts like Linkin Park, Yellowcard and 5 Seconds of Summer, and appearances at music festivals like Slipknot’s Knotfest and the Vans Warped Tour.

With Ambitions, which was released in January, One Ok Rock has signed to influential American alt-rock label Fueled by Ramen (home of acts like Panic! At the Disco and Paramore) for the English-language version of the album, and kicks off its most extensive U.S. headlining tour yet in Las Vegas. Guests on Ambitions include Avril Lavigne, 5 Seconds of Summer and Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low, further strengthening One Ok Rock’s ties to English-language pop-punk. The band that conquered Japan years ago is on track to conquer the rest of the world.
