William Singe is somewhat of a genius. The pop star has managed to break through in two nontraditional ways—and he’s only 24. First, as a contestant on The X Factor: Australia; second, with his social media singing career. On The X Factor, he didn’t make it past the super bootcamp round as an individual, so he was lumped into a boy band with some other contestants who didn’t progress. That group, The Collective, finished third on the show. The band’s debut album came in strong at No. 11 on the Aria Album Charts and was certified gold.

But Singe still had his eyes on his own spotlight. After leaving The Collective, he had about 20,000 fans on social media. He started posting covers of songs from more famous artists (everyone from Justin Bieber to Adele), recordings he did in his bedroom. At last count, his reimagining of Drake’s “Hotline Bling” had upwards of 25 million views.

Singe has a soulful voice and now showcases his own music. “Rush” is a radio-ready single that is sure to be a live bopper. With The Introduction Tour, it seems that the world will be introduced to William Singe soon if they already haven’t been.
