R&B singers Leela James and Daley may not be household names, but they’re taking the genre in more exciting directions than much bigger pop/R&B stars. James established herself as a confident throwback R&B performer with her 2005 debut album A Change Is Gonna Come, but she’s also incorporated modern hip-hop into her sound, and even collaborated with dance-music icon Moby in 2009. James’ sixth and most recent album is Did It for Love, which All Music praised as “steeped in soul tradition but fresh for 2017.”

Daley

Daley’s career doesn’t stretch back quite as far, beginning with his guest appearance on the 2010 Gorillaz song “Doncamatic.” Since then he’s released a handful of solo EPs and one full-length album, 2014’s Days + Nights. He’s now hard at work on a second album, with a new single featuring neo-soul great Jill Scott, “Until the Pain Is Gone,” giving fans a preview of what’s to come. James and Daley’s tour has been dubbed Undeniable, and that’s exactly what these talented singers promise for the future of R&B.
