Motionless in White began in 2005 with a group of high-school students including namesakes Chris Motionless and Kyle White, although years later lead singer Motionless is the only original member left. But from those humble beginnings, Motionless and his various bandmates have built a long-lasting career in an era when hard rock seems to be mostly relegated to the margins of popular music. When even alternative rock radio is dominated by the sounds of electronic dance music, MIW incorporates keyboards and loops along with heavy guitars and guttural vocals, creating a sound that is accessible yet intense.

After building a following over the past decade, thanks to appearances at festivals including the Warped Tour and Europe’s Download Festival and opening slots for big-name hard rock acts like Slipknot and Korn, MIW is embarking on a major headlining tour in support of its recent fourth album Graveyard Shift, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard hard rock charts. The top slot affords the band a chance to expand its live show. “It’s part of blending the music and the image into one really big epic package,” Motionless told SF Weekly. Expect something epic when MIW kicks off the U.S. leg of the tour right here in Vegas.
