Rocker for Life

When rock ’n’ roll is in your blood, it’s there to stay. Steven Adler is a hard-rocking lifer who loves being a rock star. It was Adler, who was in separate bands with both Slash and Duff McKagan (Road Crew) and then Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin (Hollywood Rose), who was in some ways the connector in getting this group of dreamers together in what would become one of rock’s biggest-ever bands.

By 1987, Adler was a bona fide star as Gun N’ Roses hit the top echelon with Appetite for Destruction. Adler also banged the skins on Lies, GNR’s follow-up, and played on fan favorite track “Civil War” off Use Your Illusion II. He has toured extensively with bands Adler and Adler’s Appetite, because that’s what rock ’n’ roll lifers do. –Jason Harris

Eureka!, which has a couple dozen locations around the country, doesn’t feel like a chain. The warm, modern-industrial, beer-and-burger-bar vibes are closer to the feels you’ll get from the handful of cool restaurants that surround it.

That’s because the food and drinks are stellar. The all-American beer and bourbon selections make for an exciting tasting experience; recent tap selections include Revision Brewing Company’s Double IPA, Founders’ Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale, Odell’s Green Coyote Tomatillo Sour and local fave Able Baker’s Atomic Duck IPA.

If you’re pairing your brew with one of Eureka!’s burgers, consider the Fresno Fig with sweet fig marmalade, melty goat cheese, bacon and spicy porter mustard, or the bison burger with bacon-jalapeño jam, grilled peppers and onions and smoked mozzarella. There are other irresistible entrées, from blackened fish tacos with avocado and mango salsa to an au jus steak sandwich with horseradish mustard aioli.

The extensive starters menu could also be a beer- or booze-pairing adventure. Osso buco riblets and Polish sausage mini corn dogs are tons of fun, while falafel bites are lighter but still delicious, thanks to tzatziki, feta, pickled red onions, fresh dill and red chimichurri sauce. Shrimp ceviche is served on crisp corn tostadas with mashed avocado, and trendy cauliflower is topped simply with lemon zest, bonito and garlic aioli. –Las Vegas Magazine Staff
