Many of us like to start our night of fun with a drinky-poo or two before we really get going, and Cocktail Cabaret at Caesars Palace really celebrates that joie de vivre. The cast and band mixes everything from pop to Broadway standards and even opera with the aplomb of a bartender creating your drink. Created by show producers Philip Fortenberry (also the band’s pianist) and Keith Thompson, the production stars longtime Las Vegas performers Maren Wade, Niki Scalera, Eric Jordan Young and Daniel Emmet.

In the wonderfully intimate Cleopatra’s Barge, Wade’s slowed-down version of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” hooks you immediately; from there, the singers bring out everything from “Viva Las Vegas” to “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” You’ll hear female duets, male duets and piano medleys. Emmet bursts into Italian lyrics in the most unexpected places, and Young is both a wry host and a powerful voice. Scalera’s “Diamonds Are Forever” get everyone in the joint paying attention. And all four join for a medley of alcohol-infused lyrics that will definitely have you thinking about another tipple. And the costume changes! Both girls and guys go glitzy, glam and elegant.

The whole thing leaves you slightly tipsy from both song and spirit and ready to head to your next adventure—and that’s exactly what the show intends.
