Still Got That Feeling

Ambrosia can proudly boast of being a seminal soft rock band with not one, not two, but three Me Decade mellow hits. Ambrosia emerged from Southern California in the mid-’70s, with founding members David Pack on lead vocals and guitar, Joe Puerta on bass, Burleigh Drummond on drums and Christopher North on keyboards. The quartet combined lush vocal harmonies with a progressive rock sound, debuting with a self-titled album in 1975. Three years later, Ambrosia scored a gold-selling single with “How Much I Feel.” That song alone was enough to include them in the vanguard of ’70s soft rock acts, but Ambrosia scored a No. 1 hit in 1980 with “Biggest Part of Me.” After a final stage with Bruce Hornsby joining the band on tour, Ambrosia broke up. They reformed in 1989 with Pack staying on for 11 more years. Full time since 2014, Ken Stacey has filled the role of Ambrosia’s lead and backing vocalist.

Stretch Out

It’s the center of all the action at The D, and it fills out more than 1,000 square-feet. The Longbar is reputedly the longest bar in Nevada, and offers fun both morning and night. There’s also 15 large-screen TVs playing sports around the clock, and guests can imbibe on some classic cocktails with a twist, or grab a beer on draft. It’s also not unusual to spot the owner of The D, Derek Stevens, mingling with the crowd. –KM

Next-Level Chips

It’s so much more than just a plate of nachos. This is what Vegas-born Nacho Daddy claims. They also claim you’ll never find a dry chip in your order. So far, the Daddy don’t lie.

With multiple locations across the city, the downtown Nacho Daddy location is a cool haunt with a great happy hour (3-6 p.m. daily) and an excellently priced Taco & Tequila Tuesday, with street taco specials and 2-for-1 tequila shots.

Since its arrival in Vegas in 2010, Nacho Daddy has become a local and tourist favorite with its “gourmet nachos,” tasty chips, and salsas and quesos, made fresh and in-house, daily. The Mexican-American eatery has kept up with the trends, too, by offering an amazingly tasty vegan menu. Yes, vegan nachos!

And in honor of our new hometown heroes, Nacho Daddy offers the Vegas Golden Knights Nachos—corn chips with marinated filet mignon, jack and cheddar cheeses, yellow queso, sautéed onions, mushrooms, red and green peppers and pickled peppers.
