The song “Here I Go Again” by Whitesnake has become an anthem for hair metal fans and just about anyone who has been dumped. There is a redeeming power not just in the words but in the power of the music.
While other ’80s rock hits didn’t age that well, this one is a favorite of audiences to this very day. And those audiences are getting plenty of opportunities to hear not only this track, but most of the Whitesnake catalog since lead singer David Coverdale, formerly of Deep Purple, reunited the glam metal outfit in 2002. Since the six-member unit reformed they have put out three new albums and toured regularly.
Of course, the innuendo-laden album titles of their heyday are tough to beat—Ready an’ Willing, Come an’ Get It and Slide It In ooze the sex appeal of the decade of decadence. However, it was their self-titled 1987 effort that smashed all others, selling more than eight million copies in the U.S. With “Is This Love” and “Here I Go Again” it secured its spot, and the band’s, in rock history.
