The 1980s was really the golden age of the rock power ballad, thanks to all the hair metal bands who needed their sensitive crossover hits to go with their anthemic rockers. FireHouse managed to get in just under the wire as glam was giving way to grunge, but the band scored hits with several power ballads, including “I Live My Life for You,” “Love of a Lifetime” and “When I Look Into Your Eyes.”

That’s not to say that FireHouse doesn’t rock, too: The band’s other hits include fist-pumping hard rock tunes “Reach for the Sky,” “Don’t Treat Me Bad” and “All She Wrote.” While FireHouse’s self-titled debut album wasn’t released until 1990, the band (with three of the original four members still on board) has continued to carry the torch for ’80s hard rock, cultivating a thriving fan base in Asia and mounting a series of successful tours.
