Butterfly effect

In honor of her return to the Strip and “in the spirit of Las Vegas,” as she put it, Mariah Carey recently played a game of “Never Have I Ever” with Harper’s Bazaar. (You can catch the video online.) Some of her revelations may surprise you while others are obvious affirmatives, such as her story of constantly singing her own hits with adorable kiddos Moroccan and Monroe.

But there’s one Vegas denial: Although she’s already put in two years as a resident headliner at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Mariah’s never feasted at the Bacchanal Buffet, or at any Las Vegas buffet for that matter. “That’s a never,” she says firmly. Oh well … more tiny desserts for us.

Her all-new show The Butterfly Returns runs July 5-15.

Fabulous Flashback

Star of the MTV stunt show Nitro Circus, Travis Pastrana recently visited Caesars Palace to see Absinthe, but he wasn’t on the Strip to party. Pastrana is prepping for a series of stunts replicating the legendary motorcycle jumps of Evel Knievel for a live television event, Evel Live, on History on July 8, when the daredevil will attempt to soar the length of 52 crushed cars and 16 Greyhound buses before the grand finale: the famous Caesars Palace fountains jump. “Ever since I can remember, Evel Knievel has been a hero to me and his influence still lives on to this day,” Pastrana said. “We have pulled off some huge stunts, but this has to be the most iconic one yet.”

Vegas nightclub hopping is always fun, but have you ever hit three hot spots in one night? That’s what hip-hop star Tyga did recently, bouncing between Marshmello’s show at XS, rapper Yo Gotti’s performance at Drai’s and DJ Eric DLux spinning at Apex Social Club. That’s how you Vegas.

If you ever have the chance to check out the grand opening of a show on the Strip, don’t miss it. Entertainers often show up to support their fellow performers and that’s what happened when the beloved musical Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding launched at Buca di Beppo at Bally’s. Show folks from Chippendales The Show, Fantasy, Menopause the Musical, Raiding the Rock Vault, WOW and Tenors of Rock partied along with the permanently happy couple, as did Planet Hollywood magic men Murray Sawchuck and Xavier Mortimer.

A similarly spectacular occasion was celebrated at the Paris when Inferno: The Fire Spectacular celebrated its 100th show in Las Vegas. Illusionist Joe Labero and London-born, avant-garde troupe The Fuel Girls have kept the fires burning in the magic, dance and stunt-packed production, a nonstop adrenaline rush. It scorches the stage Wednesday through Sunday at 9:30 p.m.
